Experts estimate
that between 100 to 150 million women in the Less
Developed world have an "unmet
need" for contraceptive methods. In some countries, more than
one-quarter of married women of reproductive age have an unmet need for
methods of family planning.
More than 20 countries in sub-Saharan Africa have contraceptive prevalence
rates below 10 percent.
