The US does not have
state-owned enterprises engaged in upstream oil, gas and coal production.
However, the federal government does own several utilities that produce and
sell coal-fired electricity, including the Tennessee Valley Authority and the
Western Area Power Administration (which sells power from one coal-fired
power plant owned and operated by a collection of federal, state and
municipal agencies). Data on
investment in fossil fuel production by these federally-owned utilities was
not readily available, and is not included in this analysis. |
